Learning together
The way student learning happens has changed dramatically as a result of COVID19. Teachers have had a very short time to learn how to deliver curriculum on line, principals are under pressure to adjust to changing Government advice and many parents are trying to school their children at home, while unexpectedly working from home. Amidst all this change - are learning how to make this work together.
This Campaign responds to calls for a Campaign of kindness for teachers, school principals and other school staff. It also calls for parents not to expect too much of themselves and their children - as they work hard to make learning happen (parents are telling us they need this permission).
The #LearningTogether campaign calls for acts of kindness to school staff, and from school staff, from parents and children and the broader community. And we are delighted to announce we will soon be adding a #LollyPopKindness section which recognises the important contribution made by school crossing supervisors - scroll below.

For School Staff - please share your story
Sharing stories of what it is like for school staff is really important - the stories help the community (including parents and students) to understand what is difficult and how hard you are working. We've found that stories can lead to compassionate responses from community - that's our aim. We would like to share stories from school staff - and then ask the community to undertake acts of kindness for school staff.
So we have developed a confidential story (survey) template that asks:
So we have developed a confidential story (survey) template that asks:
- Your name (you can use your first name or made up name)
- Your role at school (deidentified)
- About your experiences of delivering education COVID19
For students, families and the whole community
Please share a message with your school and post with hashtag #LearningTogether:
So many school staff have told us how hard they are working, and how difficult it is for them. We would love to share your stories - so that EVERYONE can appreciate what you do.
- Everyone: share a message of support to teachers, principals and school staff - and then share with us
- School staff: share the lengths you've gone to make learning happen - so we can appreciate what you do
- Parents: share a message about not expecting too much of yourself and school staff
- Children: tell us about a teacher you value AND what they have taught you.

#LollyPopKindness
We want to acknowledge the important role that School Crossing Supervisors play in getting kids safety to and from school. Photographer Tess Flynn will be working with the City of Yarra to capture portraits of Supervisors and we will share these portraits and what they love about their work on social media with the hashtag #LollyPopKindness to raise awareness of the important role School Crossing Supervisors play.

Here are some of the posts and stories that have been shared with us. To help kick start the Campaign we rang a number of teachers and documented their stories.
