Welcome to Quarantine Hotel
Under public health orders by the Minister for Health and Medical Research, people who arrived in Australia from overseas (in 2020) must enter into quarantine for 14 days. This is to reduce the spread of COVID-19 within the community. This mandatory isolation in so called Quarantine Hotels has been been complex. Hotel guests can experience difficulties from not be allowed out of their room for 14 days and staff are working with frustrated guests who sometimes have complex needs.
This Quarantine Hotel campaign documents the experiences of Quarantine Hotels staff; to promote an understanding of what staff experience and promote kindness towards staff. We would also like to work with hotel guests to document a daily diary, with a gratitude focus, to better understand the experiences of guests.

Diary of a Quarantine Hotel Guest
If you would like to document a Quarantine Diary please contact us. We will invite you to post into the Kindness Pandemic group each day (or less if you prefer) about your experiences - and we invite you to add one thing you are grateful for. We have heard that the experience can be difficult for some and we want to keep this positive. Dave is the first Hotel Quarantine guest to share a diary with us and his positive experience is reflected in the post below and you can read his posts on his webpage here.
Thank you all so much for your responses to my posts on the Kindness Pandemic. I have been truly overwhelmed (in a good way) by your welcome home greetings, your best wishes and so many rich and encouraging comments. They have all given me a considerable boost and I feel like I am flying through isolation now. I would also like to let you know that I am not in a position at the moment to respond personally to all of your comments or the requests for connecting on Messenger or Facebook. But, again, they are all very appreciated. However, I will be reading through and cherishing all comments and I will endeavour to address your questions in my future posts. Thank you again for your generous #kindness. Dave.
Diaries
Over time we will share a link to each of the diaries here. You can check out the diaries below from Dave Petty, Ashleigh Perrie (Paper Bag Eleganza) and Sophie Kerr Azevedo and her children (Crafty Quarantine).
